- Visual Studio Code: Free! Has a billion extensions and supports a billion languages (like R, Stata, etc.)
- Sublime Text: Not free! Also has a ton of extensions and lanugage support
- emacs / vim: Free and powerful, but ancient and terrifying

- Ulysses: Not free. I use this all the time. Great for larger documents (like articles, dissertations, books)
